This year for our anniversary, my husband treated me to a fun trip to Universal Studios Orlando. For anyone who knows me, it is clear that I am a huge Potterhead. From the time I was 12 years old, I have been in a continuous cycle of rereading Harry Potter. It has brought me hope and courage in my hardest moments.
We were able to stay at a Portofino Bay, so we were granted early morning hours(along with express passes for the day). The early hours gave me a great chance to wander through the wizarding world with very little company. Though we had visited Universal during the holidays in 2015, this is the first year that we were able to see Harry Potter World decked out for Christmas.
We immediately headed for the most magical location: Hogsmeade. Is there any reader who hasn’t imagined themselves walking through the streets outside of Hogwarts?
Honeydukes: The candy shop that dreams are made of. Here you can try chocolate frogs, specialty fudge, and almost any other sugary snack you can imagine
Hog’s Head: We stop at this eatery for breakfast during every visit. You can choose between an American or traditional British breakfast.
My favorite part of the holidays at Harry Potter World? During the winter months, Universal offers HOT butterbeer. Surpringly, I am not a huge fan of normal butterbeer, but their hot butterbeer never fails to impress me. Make sure to add this delicious treat to your bucket list!
Classic Butterbeer: This just couldn’t live up to what I imagined when I read the series. That being said, I know plenty of people who consider it the best part of Universal. I always give it another shot when we visit, but so far my taste buds have remained the same.
Diagon Alley( or shall I say Diagonally)
Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes:
Make sure to look up when you enter Fred and George’s joke shop. You might be able to spot a certain professor who made your skin crawl.
When you exit Diagon Alley, you can see the home of the notorious “mass murderer” Sirius Black.
If you look long enough, you can find Kreacher looking out of his masters window.
The Knight Bus:
“Welcome to the Knight Bus. Emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard.”
Just when I thought that the wizarding world couldn’t get any more magical, the holiday decorations brought my love to another level.
So after all this time does the world of Harry Potter bring me happiness? Always.
Hogwarts is my home.
